Saturday 5th of May – Crash Test Mummy’s Day Out!

Morning
I’m off to Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne tomorrow for a bit of pampering and shopping.

9.30am
Ottoman 3 Nail and Brow Bar
in the Myer cosmetics department that combines the best brow and nail treatments from around the world. An expert nail artist will treat you to the Harem Hands treatment including nail massage, deep exfoliation, shape, polish and treatment.

10.30am
One-on-one session at L’OCCITANE to give you a winter skin care tutorial and two product demonstrations. L’OCCITANE will also provide a skin consultation and supply three products tailored to your skin to start your winter skin care regime.

Whilst I’m being looked after by the lovely people at Ottoman 3 and L’OCCITANE, the CrashFamily will be off shopping for me with a gift card courtesy of Highpoint and the GPT group.

Actually, perhaps you can help CrashHubby and the kids decide what to get me?  CrashHubby will be sending photos of potential pressies from my twitter handle and using the hashtag #CTMDay.  Keep an eye on him OK?!?!?

11.00am
Time for a little fun before I meet the rest of the family for lunch.  I’m gong to take you shopping with me.  Follow my trail of photos as I find some awesome Mothers’ Day present ideas for you.

Lunchtime
The CrashFamily will be choosing somewhere for lunch.  Any recommendations?

1.00pm
Roadtrip!  We’re off to the family farm.  Play eye-spy with me?

Rest of the afternoon
My bet is it will be raining, so you’ll find me curled up in front of the fire with CrashHubby and some [yellow tail] bubbles to celebrate our fun morning.

  1. That sounds like a busy day you have planned! I hope you’re able to find the perfect mothers day gift somewhere in there :)

  2. Cant buy what I want….I want to wake up slowly, to fresh coffee and hearing my boys getting along happily. Then a walk down the beach while our boys are playing in the sand.
Lunch without having to worry about what it is, and not having to clean up afterwards.
I want a day of happiness, laughter and love :)

  5. I am jealous of your shopping day, it sounded like fun. I miss shopping occassionally – like when I read posts and tweets like yours today!
What makes being a mum more fun for me is that I get to spend most of my time with my awesome little boys. I know it is more fun because at the end of the day I feel happy. I am usually tired and sometimes disappointed that everything didn’t get done, but happy that the boys and I did something together instead. My work day in the office is definately not fun (although it is kind of peaceful!). For Mothers Day I am excitedly anticipating my first hand made gift from Punky – he couldn’t resist telling me !

  6. Laney! Please tell me. What is this eyebrow weave that you speak of? And is it possible for those of us with curly pube-like eyebrows? Asking for a friend, of course… P.S You looked HAWT in the pic! Work that eyebrow girlfriend!

    • Crash Test Mummy says:

Hi Jolene. It’s called Threading. They remove the hair using twisted strands of cotton. It removes the hair completely from the root and gets all the little fine hairs too. A skilled ‘artist’ will measure your face using three points of reference to create the perfect shape for your face. Any long (unruly?) hairs are trimmed too for the perfect smooth look. I think your *ahem* friend’s curly eyebrows could probably be tamed ;) I had it done at an Ottoman 3 bar in Highpoint, but they are also at Chadstone :)

  7. Michelle Vamvas says:

As a mum of three girls aged seven and under
Life’s so much more fun, is it any wonder?!
There’s dress-ups and dolls, and crafts and arts
There’s the half-hour of giggles when one of them farts
Not to sound gross but what I’m trying to say
Is that they always find sunshine, even on a gloomy day
They take me by my hands and dance me through life
Even  when its not a party, or when I’m in strife!
I’d choose waking up to their voices over alarms (or keep snoring)
Because life before my kids was, well, really quite boring

  8. Jen Muir Vs says:

    The kisses, cuddles,
    Laughter & play,
    The love that grows stronger,
    Every single day.
I’d love pjs, books or flowers,
But I’ll be happy either way!

  9. Can you buy ‘pieces of quiet’ where your going? Little miss pink tells me she’s going to give me some of those every so often :) I do so love them. If I can’t have them then maybe a meal out that I don’t have to cook. What I’m actually getting is some ground covers for my flower beds. That’s nice too :)

  10. Tracy Boulter says:

Being a Mum is a great privilege as it lasts a lifetime, your life is enriched as you learn as much as you teach.

  11. gemmie says:

Being a mum is more fun when you find things you ALL love doing – as a family we love baking :)

    [I follow you on fb]

  12. I want a super pretty bag. Just something pretty. Just for me. Me me me.

  13. Being a mum is fun
    Wiping babys bum
    It’s small and squishy

Being a mum is fun because it’s the only time you can squish a little bum and admire the skin without being weird

  14. …doing things differently.

    Have a yelling contest.
Jump on the bed with them.
    Spend the day in pjs
Have a backwards night …Eat dessert first.
Have the kids put YOU and hubby to bed first :) leave the TV on LOUD

  15. The one dear thing that makes being a mum more fun, is having girlfriends. They make me laugh, keep me sane, share their stories, and help me to keep things in perspective. Some of these friends live nearby, some I have never met as I’ve only read their blogs. But I know that they are there if I ever need cheering up :)

  16. What makes being a mum more fun? hmm.. I’m tempted to say CAKE as my toddler is obsessed with baking so we always have goodies in the house. I think I’d have to say that sharing my mothering experiences with friends (in person, on facebook, through my blog and now on twitter too – ooo) makes being a mum more fun. What I want for mothers day? TIME OFF! :-)

  17. I’ve already bought my own Mother’s Day present, but I’ll be sure to act surprised when I open it. I’m an older mum with small children. I never had maternal instincts and until I was nearly 40 I assumed I would never be a mum. What has really blown me away is this ‘super-love’ that came out of nowhere when I had children. I never ever imagined I would have this much love for these little people who call me Mummy.

  18. I hope you enjoyed your day out, I was following along on twitter and having a little giggle! It looked like you got to do some fun things!

What makes being a Mum more fun? Honestly, it’s having an amazing man (their father) holding my hand every step of this parenting journey, and always ready to catch me if I fall. He gives me the breathing space I need to be me, and picks up the slack so I can can spend more time just enjoying the kids :-)

What do I want for Mother’s Day? Well considering it’s our anniversary also, I would love an engagement ring! Reckon you could organise one of them for me? Lol

  19. I think that learning to play again makes being a mum more fun. Relearning to get down amongst your kids, getting dirty, silly and involved in their play. It takes you away from the mundaneness of everyday life and really makes you appreciate your kids for the unique, creative little individuals that they are.

How did the shopping go? I saw a few posts. Did you see any gorgeous earrings, that’s what I hope I get for mothers day :)

    • Crash Test Mummy says:

The shopping was great fun Melissa – highly recommend a bit of retail therapy ;) Did you get some nice earrings for Mothers’ Day?

  21. It’s no lie i love to bake & eat pie, with the mini’s by my side I have them to share the licking of the spoon.

  22. What makes being a mum more fun: when you’ve got a husband that shares the journey with you. Living as a team. It’s not a case of the kids vs the parents but when you’ve got a supportive husband there is certainly more time for mum.
I’m hoping for a Jo Totes camera bag for mothers day. #dreaming.

  23. Claire Lewis says:

What I find makes being a mum more fun is to engage in those precious moments with your children – put down the phone, camera, laptop and be ‘present’ to the opportunity. Live your life with your children, and enjoy them!
