I’m sick of being sick, so I’m putting my foot down and doing something about it.
And my motives are completely selfish. If I’m not sick on a daycare day then the kids are!
I only get two days a week to myself to work – a whole 12 hours and I don’t want to spend them coughing, sluggish and whinging to you all on Facebook!
CrashGirl has gone back to germ-school, I mean pre-school (Kinder) after the mid-winter holidays and I have a cunning plan for show and tell.
Call it disease control if you like, but as far as she’s concerned it is a fun song and dance ;)
Let me introduce you to my mastermind plan:
1. First a bit of education from Bisolvon and the Fully Sick Rapper
(You can watch the full video of “Don’t cough on my head” featuring the Fully Sick Rapper here).
2. Then a bit of a chat with CrashGirl to see if it worked . . .
She seems to have got the hang of it!
Unfortunately I couldn’t get anything out of CrashBoy. I really wanted you to hear how croaky his voice is, even weeks after a chest infection and cough.
I wish we had thought to try a mucolytic like Bisolvon’s Chesty Cough liquid to help loosen the phlegm and make it easier for him to cough it up. I’m sure all the coughing has really strained his voice. Today my brother said he would make a great blues singer!
So what do you think of my ‘fully sick’ plan? Hopefully it works. CrashGirl is already coughing into her elbow instead of her hand – this is one thing I don’t mind spreading among the general population ;)
Are you tired of being sick this winter? Are the kids bringing germs home?

This has been our worst winter ever in terms of illnesses. I am well and truly over it. I went to a very inspiring talk last night from a mum who was experiencing the same ails with her kids as I am (asthma, ear infections, colds etc) and she ditched all the additives/preservatives and they haven’t seen the doctor in 4.5 years! I am going to hit the pantry today… as well as show my kids the whole “cough in the elbow” thing. :)

That’s really interesting about additives and preservatives. We don’t eat many if them, but have had some cracker illnesses regardless. CrashGirl is so cute with the coughing in her elbow thing. It’s automatic for her already!
We’ve had a little bit, but nowhere near as many illnesses as I thought we’d have with the boys starting childcare. Mr 3 was sick with a cough for two weeks but Mr 1 has avoided everything so far! I love the cough in the elbow – genius!

Go Mr 1 – germ proof ;). The coughing in the elbow is genius because you can’t touch anything with the inside of your elbow so you don’t spread germs! I can’t believe how natural it is for CrashGirl now. I do it too!
