Otherwise titled “how we can all save a bundle on health insurance as well as getting two legitimate cash bonuses”.
If you didn’t trust me so much it would sound dodgy, right? ;)
Well, hopefully you know me well enough to trust what I recommend on this blog. I am so excited about this opportunity because it solves all sorts of problems.
- Firstly, I’m getting paid to tell you about a service that I think is amazing (goodbye October cashflow problems!)
- Secondly, I get to help out a genuine independent grassroots company who are going up against the big guys.
- Thirdly, I’m not the only one getting something out of this. I’ve made a video below that explains how the lovely guys at Split It will not only save you stacks on your health insurance, but will also split their commission with you.
Who does that?!?!?!?
Oh, and I get to surprise you with an extra too.
This couldn’t have come at a better time. Remember how we ran out of money just recently? Now I get to launch Crash Ca$h with a bang.
I’m so excited – I hope you like my wee video :)
Tip #1 – How to save on health insurance
By switching the Crash Family can save $680 in a year and we’ll also get a cash back bonus of $191! You can be sure that we’ll be switching as soon as a sort out a credit we have with our current fund.
To find out how much you can save and what kind of cash back you’ll get head on over to:

I’d love it if you would come back and tell me in the comments how much you can save and what you’ll be spending your cash back bonus on ;)
I’m sure you have some more questions. The Split It site is really comprehensive and has a whole list of answers for you.
Just be sure to read all the relevant information and compare carefully with your current insurance fund. You really can’t go wrong because the price of insurance is regulated, and Split It are the only company that will share their commission with you.
I hope you get a great deal and I look forward to giving you an extra $50 :) All you need to do is add a review about your experience with Split It.

PS Remember that discussion on FB about ridiculous energy prices? Well Split It have started offering some great deals on energy too! There’s a 25% discount on rates for customer’s in Victoria that I will definitely be checking out so I don’t have to spend my cash back bonus on the electricity bill!
UPDATE!
Check out this awesome result from one of our readers!

This is so timely. Was just having the discussion about health insurance with my partner this week. Thanks Laney. Will be clicking on those links. :)

Good timing indeed! It’s a great model and they are the only company to share their commissions. Pretty generous!
Going to have a look now :)

Fab! Do let me know if you can make some good savings :)
Love the idea of the rebate, but went and checked them out and to get the same level of cover that we have with our current provider (not one of the top 9 – closed ‘union only’ one) it would actually cost us $30/month MORE than what we’re currently paying. Good for some or for those who shop around I guess? We do have an awesome deal with our current provider though.
Hi Mel
Thanks for checking out the site. There are a number of closed or ‘restricted’ health funds that offer great value plans in Australia. Although we are focusing trying to compare all the open funds for you first (whether we get paid or not), we have been talking to all the restricted funds about providing their products as well as cash back.
One thing to remember when you visit the site is to select your income (top left of comparison page) – if your family earns less than $168K per year this will reduce the premium by 30% by including the government rebate. You might find policies that are a lot less than you are paying at the moment plus get some cash back? :)

Hi David – thanks for answering that one for me! I was going to ask you guys to help out :)
Signed up for a policy that gives us roughly the same benefits for $90 less a month! And I am getting $211 in cashback! If it all works according to plan… ;-)
I’ll review the Split It website once I have received my paperwork. Thank you for saving us money!! xoxox
That is an awesome saving Cecile! So you save $1080 on your annual premium, get $211 from Split It and another $50 from me – that’s $1341 in your pocket! What will you do with it?!?!?
The fun answer would be to spend it on a trip back to France next year. The sensible answer, which will win, will be credit card repayment and savings… Am I boring or what?
;-)
Great, well done Cecile. And thanks for the feedback too. We continually trying to make the site easier to use.
We get paid once you have become a full member with the fund and have completed your 30 day cooling off period (we get paid typically at month end). At which point we will be in touch with your cash back :)

Hi There,
One very happy split it customer here!
I used them a few months ago and it was so easy. I jumped on the website and a few minutes later had compared and chosen a new health fund.
Then split it did all the rest for me it was great! I didnt have to re tell all my details to the new health fund or wait for ages on the phone, it was all done. Split it kept me informed of what was happening and I received all my paperwork in the mail. :)
Then the next thing I got in the mail was a cheque from split it for $211!! wooo hoooo.
So easy!!!
Will be using split it again soon to compare our electricity!
Thanks again SPLIT IT!!
That’s great Chrissy – thanks for sharing your experience with Split It. I’ll share it on FB :) If you’re in Victoria there is a great deal with Power Direct via Split It :)
This is really weird – today we went to a dentist! Both Hubby and I need a lot of work and we are now looking into Private Health Insurance. Going to look at SpiltIt to see if there is one that suits our family, and one tha covers without any waiting period!
Thanks for the this Laney :)

Sorry to hear about the dental work required. It’s never pleasant or cheap! Hope you find a good policy! Thanks for supporting me and Split It :)
Hi Lisa
Going to the dentist is never fun! The good news is that Frank are waiving all waiting waiting periods on extras if you apply for a combined hospital and extras policy in October. So at least you can get up 80% of your dental work paid for by Frank.
Usually the health funds only offer to waive their waiting periods on general dental, but for the first time Frank are offering this on Major Dental (normally a 12 month wait) as well as all other extras services.
If you have any other questions feel free to hop on the live chat on the site or give us a call.

So timely to open up this post today! I just got our electricity bill :sob: and our health insurance bill :hysterics:
With a chronic disease of my own to manage and two children with special needs I expect health insurance to be high but OMG.
Marita’s last post..Lets talk about bed wetting + giveaway
I know what you mean Marita. We have a fairly basic plan and it’s expensive enough. Switching with Split It saves us heaps. Definitely check them out for energy as their is a really good deal on for VIC residents at the moment. I hope you can find a better health insurance policy and I look forward to giving you a bonus $50 :)
Oh this is frustrating…. but good I suppose. Our health insurance costs us around $220 a month and it seems that is about the lowest rate going already. Happy we have the best plan, but a little bummed I can’t save any money there.
Odd though because we are with BUPA and the rate quoted on the site is $290. Maybe it is a long term member thing. I’ve been with them (as MBF) since I turned 18yo.

Hey Marita, did you update your income on the left and side? You may be eligible for the govt rebate. Also take into consideration any cash back, as it may actually reduce the annual cost belw what you are paying.
Hi Marita
It sounds like you might have the Bupa basic private family cover? This is around $290 per month (depending on where you live) without the Medicare rebate. If you earn less than $168K between you then the premium drops with inclusion of the 30% rebate to more like what you are paying now. This is good basic cover, however, there are some better offer around particularly if make use of the extras like dental, optical, psychology etc.
There is a little chat box on the bottom left of the screen where you can ask us if you get stuck!
