Who is the very first Crash Test Mummy of the Week?

Melissa – a Stay at Home Mum from Auckland, New Zealand.

Who do you live with?

Fiance of 4 years, J and my nearly 1 year old daughter Eva.

How old were you when you first became a mum?

18 and proud of it

What do you love about being a parent?

The cuddles, the unconditional love, those moments when you go into their room at night to watch them sleep and they start stirring so you tip toe out of the room thinking omg please don’t wake up LOL

What is the most difficult thing about being a parent?

When she is in a bad mood or sick. Putting her bloomin nappy on lol

What superpower would you like to have and why?

I would want to go invisible, then I could break into the house of the kids who bullied me at school and re arrange their furniture while they were in a different room, just to freak them out.

If you had time to take care of yourself, what would you focus on?

SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

What is your idea of fun?

Going for a walk, watching tv shows on demand so I don’t have to watch 20mins of ads lol stay at home mum

What question would you like to ask the Crash Test Community?

What are a few emotions you feel after having children? Mine would be adoration, happiness, guilt, and worry.

Stacey-Lee, it is amazing how as soon as our baby is born our whole world changes. I don’t know what I might be doing now if my daughter Eva hadn’t come along when she did. Everyday she amazes me :)

Thanks Mums the word! I know exactly what you mean about feeling totally in love. When Eva was born I spent most of the time just staring at her, watching her sleep. They are mazing little people :)

Thanks everyone for coming by and welcoming our first CTM of the Week.
Melissa, I remember feeling overwhelmed by love, relief and exhaustion when both my babies were born. I was also scared for CrashBoy because he had to be taken away and put in the special care nursery. For this I felt guilty that my body couldn’t keep him growing stronger for longer (he was born at 35 weeks).
Now I feel love and am incredulous at these two little people as they grow up. They make me laugh, cry and sometimes frustrate the hell out of me, but above all I feel love.

  6. Nice to meet Melissa and read all about her experiences…

My emotions especially at first was shock (darby came very quickly!) and joy!!! I felt deliriously happy for the first 6 months…
Now.. its more about protection and care as well as incredible amounts of love (as well as a bit of frustration) It seriously is a roller coaster of emotions!!
