This month I’ve been exploring how I can use technology to keep me organised. After a call for some ideas and suggestions for apps and software used by the Crash Test Community, Vanessa from 26yearsandcounting told me how much she loves to use Evernote. In fact, she wrote a post about how she uses evernote which really got me motivated. So much so that I am actually writing this post in Evernote!
So what is it? A note taking app that can be used across all of your devices (it syncs up), with a very powerful search function and organisation system (using notebooks and tags). You can clip information from webpages, take photos, record voice reminders etc etc etc. Go check it out – it’s awesome!
I’ve been reading the introduction for Evernote and also their blog and forum discussions. It has got me super excited about the potential for sorting my life out. Seriously!
Some of my favourite uses and tips have been:
9 Spring Cleaning Tips from Evernote Parenting Ambassador, Carley Knobloch which includes a fab downloadable pdf
How to Use Evernote to Improve Your Home: Tips from AphroChic Founder Jeanine Hays which is going to totally kickstart Operation Crash Palace!
How an Attorney and Dad Uses Evernote for Work and Parenting – the best of the lot. This one got me really excited about what Evernote can do (I’m such a geek!)
So here’s my crash test for the week.
Over the next week I’m going to trial Evernote and set it up to help me manage things like:
- My blogging: posts, ideas, projects, brand and PR opportunities
- Household management: bills, shopping lists, home maintenance and projects
- Travel plans like my trip to New York for BlogHer!
- Documenting memories like photos, the kids’ artwork and milestones
That should do for now! I’ll be back next Monday with my results.

PS I’m not working for or with Evernote, I’m just really excited about how it might make my life easier and help me “Get Sorted” :)
