I need my head read for doing this – seriously! You need to be very kind, OK? This is the first time I have seen myself exercising on video – it is hard to watch. Hopefully it gets better as I get fitter and hotter ;).
It is also my first attempt at creating a video, so yes it’s a little daggy, but hey – at least I’m giving it a go right?!?!
Week 1
Here are some of the more basic exercises Adam has been making me do. They could be done by anyone, anywhere. I’m using my 8kg pink kettlebell, but you could use a phone book, dumbbell, tin cans or even nothing at all. You will still get a good workout.
Start out with a warm up. Either a short run around the park, running on the spot for a minute or even just star jumps. Before you get into the exercises do a few quick stretches – knee ups and spinning your arms around like a crazy windmill should do it ;)
This routine is a set of 4 weight bearing exercises, with 8 reps. You repeat the set 3 times with 20 seconds of cardio at the end of each rep followed by a rest. Good luck!
My Crash Hot Diary – 19th December 2011
If you remember, my main aim this week was to drink more water. Well, I drank more water than I usually do, but still not enough. I still haven’t bought myself a fancy motivating water bottle to admire and tote around. I’m sure this is the key to success ;).
I’ve managed to eliminate all the chocolate biscuits from the house, but probably not in a good way. Oops. I’m not sure if it is the chocolate biscuits or the increased muscle from training, but I’ve actually put on weight this week – aargh!
68.1kg – that’s an extra 600g. Oh well, at least I have a little more energy – most of the time. I pretty much crash after 10pm and struggle to keep going. But tonight (Sunday night) I’m almost finished with my video and writing this post, all ready to publish in the morning. Hooray!
Focus for this week
Definitely need to crack this drinking more water habit. I also have to take it a bit easy this week too as I’m off to have surgery on Wednesday. I think I will focus on not eating treats or drinking wine, and save it up for Christmas and Boxing Day!
What are your goals this week? Do you think you could manage my Crash Hot exercise routine?
Take care,

Well done you! The video editing was great, you made the exercises seem more interesting with the music in the background and the fastforwarded bits. I plan to worry about my excess baggage in the new year, but I admire your efforts in this time leading up to Christmas.

Oh yay – a comment! I been worried people were thinking, WTF? I tried to make it fun, that’s what it’s all about, otherwise you just give up. The New Year is a good time as any to start ;)
Love your video Laney! I think you did great with the video editing!
Drinking my water was about the only thing I did accomplish last week!
Amy @ MahliMoo’s last post..McFatty Monday
Thanks Amy! The iMac makes it pretty easy to edit using iMovie. Lots of fun!
I need to drink water right now – thanks for the reminder ;)
Fantastic! You do make it look easy- I put these stupid expressions on my face while I’m exercising.
Keep going, you can do it!
Amy’s last post..500 rolls, 5 years, 4 bottoms
Thanks Amy. The routine is mostly easy. You can make it easier/harder by changing what you use as a weight, if at all. It’s the repeated sets that get a bit harder ;)
Very impressed with the vid, very cool! And well done on the water, I have to force myself to drink lots of water and often forget! I have a rule that I can’t leave work until my 1.5 litre bottle has been finished. There have been a few [to many] times where I’ve had to skull a lot before leaving to pick up the kids!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks Stick ;) It is so easy to forget to drink, especially when you’re busy. Maybe I’ll get fit enough to do a triathalon with you again some day :)
OMG those burpees and mountain climbers look a killer. Well done you, and that’s both for the exercises and the editing, both great. Video is so powerful, I think you’ll motivate heaps of people with these vids.
And please pat my back, I was at the gym doing weights at 6am after a very long eating and drinking session yesterday at our street Xmas party… off to drink more water!

Thanks Seana. Pat on the back for you indeed! Well done :). I had Pilates at 7am. That’s early enough for me!
Awesome work Laney!! GO YOU :O)
Caz’s last post..MUM TALK: Milestones
Thanks Caz :) How is your exercise going? Actually I’m about to go and check out your “confessing my shame’ post – will that tell me? ;)
Kia ora Laney – great vid! Very impressed with how you don’t seem to be feeling the strain at all! Are you doing these every day? I just put my back out (ack, happens regularly) but will join you in a few days :-) Aroha x H
Thanks Hinemoana. I was definitely feeling it. The exercises we videoed are all from the second set. My legs killed me in the lunges! I’m not doing this every day, but Adam will be around soon to put me through my paces again. I do Pilates once a week and I’ve had the weekend off. Other than that, it’s just running around after the kids! Adam and I have put our backs out recently too. Hope it is ok soon x
I’ve got to do something sbout my water intake too. Soda water n summer is easy but water-water is hard sometimes. I need a slice of lemon or line or mint in it, maybe.
I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at how you got rid of all the chocolate biscuits. I use that same method for bickies, chocky, candy too. Now to stop restocking and we’ll be sweet……well, less sweet and full of sugar.
Keep up the good work. I’m feeling inspired but too tired to do anything quite yet. Maybe that doesn’t matter.

I’ve been entertaining the thought of soda water. A woman I used to work with would have a big glass jug sitting on her desk and add lovely fruit like pineapple or watermelon to it. It always looked so enticing and refreshing. Must try it this summer.
And yes, we are officially out of chocolate biscuits ;)
good on you Laney! love the pink dumbell… is that what its called?! I have just signed up to a gym to push me into the Michelle Bridges 12wbt! Im off to check out more of your crash sugar posts!!
Mum’s the Word’s last post..Sweet Charity!
Hi Sarah! It’s a kettlebell, and don’t you just love the colour?!? Hope the 12wbt is going well – it looks pretty serious!
